‘I meet people where they are, and walk alongside them to where they want to be’
Hello, and welcome to my website. My name is Ashleigh and I’m a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Couples Counsellor. I carry out Face to Face, confidential counselling sessions from my therapy room in my garden in Glenboig, North Lanarkshire (ML5 2RD) I also offer outdoor therapy and online sessions.
Whether this is the first time you are seeking therapy or have had therapy before, it can be overwhelming. Therapy can be challenging, as the process entails self-reflection and honest conversation. It’s important to me to provide a space where you feel comfortable, open and safe. I understand the importance of individuality so I use a variety of approaches to suit your personal and unique needs. My aim as a therapist is to work with you in a compassionate and empathic way to help you reach your goals and full potential.
Experience
I have experience in working with adult (18+) clients with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship problems, grief, and low self esteem.
It has been well documented that men struggle more than women when it comes to asking for help, often trying to appear strong when they are really suffering. I have a specific interest in, and a great deal of experience of working with men and providing a safe, non-judgemental space in which they can explore their problems.
I have experience facilitating psycho-education groups.
What I love most about being a therapist
I’m extremely passionate about what I do and I feel very fortunate to be able to work as a therapist! I have a curious nature and people fascinate me so I really enjoy hearing my clients stories – I’ve worked with people from all walks of life. I find developing a strong therapeutic relationship with clients really rewarding. I love walking alongside my clients to support, empower and encourage them to make changes and reach their goals. What I enjoy the most is witnessing a client having that ‘aha’ or ‘lightbulb’ moment.
Professional Membership/Insurance
I hold Counsellor membership (member no. 4500) of the professional body COSCA (Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland) and I’m on their register which is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). I abide by and follow COSCA’s ethical guidelines and code of practice. In the event that you are unhappy with the service I provide and we can’t work through it together you can make a complaint to COSCA, full details are on their website.
I have regular supervision and remain committed to my ongoing continued professional development.
I hold Professional Civil Liability insurance which covers my counselling practice.
In line with data protection regulations I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) ref no. ZB371336.
I’m a member of the Disclosure Scotland PVG Scheme.
